2008
Reconstruction of Emmanuel Christian School, Cambodia July 2008
To nurture the next generation, our staff support the project in Cambodia through arranging educational activities for kids.
In partnership with a Hong Kong-based NGO, International Christian Concern (ICC), the Foundation supported the reconstruction of Emmanuel Christian School with basic facilities in a new site to replace the crumbling cowhide-built school in a slum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The aim of the project is to provide the next generation with a safe learning environment, education opportunity and healthy meals. The project is still undergoing construction work and is expected to be completed by early 2009.

Disaster Relief – China Earthquake and Myanmar Cyclone May 2008
The tropical cyclone in Myanmar on 7 May 2008 and the earthquake in Sichuan on 12 May 2008 caused serious casualties and ten of thousands of death and significant loss of properties. The Foundation organized a Fund-raising Campaign putting up a grant to match dollar for dollar the funds raised by staff. In total, the funds raised by staff together with the matching donations from Mr Bruce Rockowitz, President of Li & Fung Trading, Mr Jeremy Hobbins, Group Managing Director of LiFung Trinity and Mr Ben Chang, Group Managing Director of IDS came to HK$23,335,000 for the earthquake victims and HK$395,000 for the cyclone victims. In addition to raising money, the Foundation also supported various business units' disaster relief initiatives, including 30 bottles of antiseptic fluids supplied by IDS which were urgently needed by the Red Cross, small generators sourced by LF Trading for remote earthquake areas and "Rebuilding Children's Lives" earthquake donation campaign organized by Toys R Us LiFung.

Bring Me a Book Program, Hong Kong May – July 2008
"Bring Me a Book" is an NGO that was founded to serve children who do not have access to quality books. A total of 40 staff were given training for a period of 4 hours and participated in the story telling for a total of three times. The Foundation supported a library of quality children's books at non-profit-making kindergarten "The Salvation Army – Ng Kwok Wai Memorial Kindergarten".

RAPHA Children's Home, Malaysia April 2008
About 60 staff volunteers spent two days during 12-13 April 2008 to help painting and cleaning the RAPHA Children's Home. Currently, the Home has about 26 children aged between 2 and 18 years old, who are orphans or come from broken/poor/single-parents families. The Foundation supported 2 sets of computers and painting materials. The staff also made personal donation in terms of books, clothes and food.

2008 Hong Kong Marathon March 2008
Hong Kong Marathon has become the Group's annual outdoor charitable event. On 4 March, over 300 staff participated in the marathon. The Foundation matched dollar for dollar any fund raised by staff to the designated charities, namely, "Seeing is Believing" and the "Hong Kong Paralympics Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled".

Read to Feed Program, Hong Kong Feb – March 2008
Our staff jointly organized the "Read to Feed Program" with Holy Angles Canossian School in support of the Heifer International School Hong Kong's community building for villages in Qinghai, China. Over 600 participant students were encouraged to read books during a period of 6 weeks starting in February. Our staff volunteers set up a stall for promoting the reading program and spouses of our staff acted as story tellers to read story books to the students. All proceeds supported the dairy cattle and the irrigation system in La Du County in Qinghai Province.
2007
School Construction Project, Vietnam December 2007
Li & Fung and American Eagle Outfitters jointly sponsored a school construction project, to be undertaken by Vietnam Children's Fund, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in December 2007. Our staff will support this initiative through volunteer work in organizing extra-curricular activities, learning classes and various programs for the students regularly. The school is one of the very important platforms for our staff to make a consistent effort to participate in building their own community.
Stairathon Charity Run, Hong Kong December 2007
The Stairathon Charity Run was successfully held on 8 December 2007 with a total of 104 runners at the Shatin LiFung Centre, Hong Kong.
The aim of the charity run is to raise funds for Hong Chi Association, the largest NGO in Hong Kong dedicated to serving some 7,000 mentally handicapped persons of all ages and all grades and their families. The Association operates 70 service units. The donations support Hong Chi Association's educational projects.

Race to Feed, Hong Kong October 2007
Race to Feed is an annual fund raising event organized by Heifer International Hong Kong. This event aims at raising public awareness of Heifer's poverty alleviation work and raising fund to support Heifer's program in China. Our staff formed two teams of 10-people participating in 3-legged race on 27 October 2007.

Celebrating Mid-autumn Festival with the Elderly, Hong Kong September 2007
A group of 40 staff volunteers together with their families and children celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with the elderly at Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Nursing Home on 15 September 2007. Our staff designed interesting games and prepared Chinese operatic song performance for the elderly. Gifts sponsored by the Foundation were distributed to the elderly.

Pull for Charity - a fund raising tug of war competition, Hong Kong May 2007
Over 100 staff participated in this fund-raising event organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups on 20 May 2007. The objective of the event was to raise funds for the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups to promote the healthy growth and explore the potential of the younger generation.

Disaster Relief - Bicol, the Philippines April 2007
In November 2006, Typhoon Reming hit the Bicol Region, the Philippines, and had caused immediate death of around 400 people. Our staff worked with a local NGO "Dios Mabalos Foundation" to help rebuild 9 blocks of an elementary school, providing a safe learning environment for over 600 students. The Foundation fully supported the relief work. Our staff in the Philippines also raised funds for purchasing school packs for the students.

Hong Kong Marathon March 2007
Over 340 staff participated in the run on 4 March 2007. 2006
Middle Class in Action Program, Heshan, PRC November 2006
A Scholarship Program organized by "Middle Class in Action" to selected secondary students from Heshan to further study in technical colleges in Taishan, Zhuhai and Xinhui for a period of 3 years, during which the students would be given guidance by our staff and other volunteers. The Foundation supported our staff to conduct interviews with the candidates and home visiting of the short-listed candidates over weekends on 9-10 June and 7-8 July 2007 respectively.

Personal Emergency Link for the Elderly, Hong Kong August 2006
Partnered with Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, the Foundation sponsored Personal Emergency Links to the elderly who are aged over 60, disabled or suffering from chronic illness. They are either live alone or co-habitants are not able to render support to them. Our staff volunteers gave phone calls to the elderly to show our care.

Disaster Relief - Yogyakara, Indonesia
May 2006
The earthquake in Yogyakara, Indonesia in May 2006 had taken lives of about seven thousand people. Our staff, working with a local NGO "Yayasan Nurani Dunia Foundation", acted as volunteers over a long weekend in the disaster areas to help build shelters mainly for the elderly, pregnant women and those in poor health condition. The Foundation supported the relief work.
