2009
Green Long March, Shanghai, PRC July 2009
The Foundation supported a team of 15 staff from Shanghai Hub participating in the Green Long March 2009, organized by FutureGenerations/China, on a Yangtze River Route from Shanghai on 5 July to Changsha on 18 July. The theme for 2009 is Energy. Seeking to lead positive action around how we produce, use and conserve energy, students from mainland universities and our staff joined various educational campaigns promoting creative energy solutions in local communities. This is a practical opportunities for the youth and our staff to take part on local energy conservation issues.
Tree Planting Challenge 2009, Hong Kong April 2009
Protecting our environment is the responsibility of every one and is also one of the initial focuses of the Li & Fung (1906) Foundation. The Foundation supported the "Tree Planting Challenge 2009" organized by the Friends of the Earth (FOE) on 26 April 2009 by sponsoring a corporate team of 20 staff from Li & Fung Trading, Li & Fung Retailing, IDS and LiFung Trinity. The Challenge started off at Pak Sin Leng Country Park. The team used their own designed environmental backpack to carry 250 seedlings up to the hillside. Staff participants found the green project very meaningful.

Earth Hour 2009, Hong Kong March 2009
The Foundation is supportive of the environmental campaign of World Wide Fund for nature on its Earth Hour, by communicating within the group of companies by switching off the lights at 8:30pm on 28 March 2009, to send a powerful message to the world that anyone can contribute to the greener initiative.
2008
Green Bag Campaign, Shanghai, PRC 12 July 2008
15 staff volunteers from our Shanghai office participated in a 'Green Long March' campaign to distribute green bags at the exit of the Lotus supermarket at Super Brand Mall, Shanghai. Volunteers distributed bags to shoppers by drawing shoppers over, and repacking all their groceries from plastic bags into reusable cloth bags. Volunteers also encouraged the passers-by to use less plastic bags and focused on explaining how and why plastic bags should be reduced. All plastics bags collected were returned to the supermarket at the end of the event.

Green Office Project, Hong Kong 2007
The Li & Fung Group is committed to the Green Office Initative by reducing wastage and power consumpition in the offices. The Foundation supports this Initative and shares the best practices with the participating business units.
